there's a tribe for esl teachers and another for south korea. many of us who live and work here are on those tribes.

am only guessing you are coming over as a teacher... if i am correct, you will probably also want to check out www.daveseslcafe.com where there are specific korean forums.

things i wish i had brought with me:

sheets (nearly impossible to find here - i would suggest bringing a couple sets of full size or queen to make sure they fit whatever bed you end up with)

more summer clothes (i work at a hagwon where i can wear t-shirts and summer things, but i didn't know that before i came and brought suits and more business-like attire... also, unless you are pretty small, it can be difficult to find things that fit here. )

more socks! pretty much all the socks here are very thin and some sort of synthetic material... coming from the west, am used to regular cotton socks and i had no idea the difference that would make after walking around in seoul all day.

"feminine protection" - if you have a favourite brand of tampon, bring a supply of it, because i'm told it is a bit of a challenge to find them here.

i nearly lost my mind trying to find a coffee grinder here, someone from the us finally mailed me one.

I will be teaching with the department of defense.. Special education to military kids in south korea. The city has not yet been determined. I looking for cultural info on living there. I do hope to do some independent esl teaching as well.

the davesesl site has alot of cultural information, and links to other sites with that sort of info.

i can also certainly try to answer any specific questions you have, or at least point you in the right direction. :)
