Does anyone out there know of employers willing to sponsor administrative staff. I worked in Vancouver for my working holiday visa a couple of years ago (am a legal secretary of 12 years experience). The only thing I can think of is learning French and immigrating via the points system without an employer sponsoring me (and saving a lot of moula).

Has anyone out there managed to get Canadian work/residency etc.

I live in Calgary and I do not know about legal staff in particular but right now in general all over the city people are looking for staff. Google the Calgary Herald (Local newspaper) see if there is anybody looking for somebody like you. If there is the odds are they woll be willing to do the immigration paperwork for you.
Now, let's be honest Calgary is not half as nice or interesting as Vancouver, but once you are in Canada the rest sshould be easier.

    Good luck.

There is lots of help right now for employers who want ot bring qualified help from other countries.
In some smaller towns in Alberta they even have seminars for employers on how to do it. Right now the atmosphere is right to send your resume to em[ployers and asked them to help you with the immigration process.
