I'm busting my ass to try and get out of the US to Manila, Philippines sometime around July 15. I've got a Bachelor's Degree and I'm working on an ESL Certificate that I should have nailed down by the end of March. Any recommendations be it teaching English, training English at call centers or a general job opening for someone moving from the US would be much appreciated.
Thanks to everyone in advance.

Wed, February 14, 2007 - 10:53 PMEveryone in the Philippines learns English at school?
You would be better off going to Japan, Korea or China....

Re: Looking for employment in Manila, Philippines
Mon, April 16, 2007 - 8:51 AMhey, i'd check out Dave's ESL café (website). There's plenty of webpages for this sort of thing, but i never know how much to trust them. What I would do is just fly to Manila and search from there. It makes getting a job soo much easier when you show up in the office in person. When i looked for jobs in Tucuman, Argentina on the net, there were NONE, but then i came here and found plenty of work in small language schools. So if you don't mind the uncertianty of flying to an unfamilier contry with no plans or work, then thats the way to go.
good luck with everything

Tue, June 5, 2007 - 9:51 PMWorking as a trainer in a call cener would be the best option. A native speaker will command more respect than one who is local and tasked to train. Companies like Ambergis, Intellicare, convergys, peoplesupport, all have ads weekly looking for trainers. Just add a dot com to the end of the companies and starting inquiring. More call centers still opening up and I know they need trainers. Or you may teach in schools that train call center representatives.
Good Luck. -

Sat, June 9, 2007 - 10:58 AMThis is great info, Eden! I really appreciate it. I'm going to Indonesia in September to teach for a year and this will be invaluable info for work after that.
I appreciate it!
