exchange of residences

i am searching for information out there to begin the process of exchanging my residence for a residence abroad. any ideas where to begin? is this a feasible venture?
all information will be helpful. i am a designer/performer.

    Discribe your circumstances a bit more. You're little tribe person gizmo says you're in Chicago. Are you in the city? What kind of place do you have. What kind of place are you looking for. Any particular part of the world? How long? How now?

    Yes it's feasable. Start out with an idea of where. Read, go visit. Meet people. Make connections. Check out travelociy dream maps. Whenever I have a slow spot in the work life, I check out the current low fare and often take off several days later.

      Also, I've seen posts on Craigslist for this as well. Try posting in the city you are interested in going to. Craigslist is all over now.

    i just wanted to thank you for the responses and i will be checking into berlin, germany.
    i live in chicago (yes, the city). i have a 700sf apartment on the northside. one giant room.

    craigslist and couchsurfing are definite pluses for making connections.
    a women from world exchange has information on the programs i was looking for.

    this was great and my first trip abroad besides lots of u.s. and canada.
    sweet travels everyone. i will be tuning in.
