Re: Turkey
Wed, April 27, 2005 - 1:47 PMAll I can tell you is that one of my references forwarded to me an exchange he'd had by email with my potential employer and then asked me not to tell the potential employer he'd had any contact with me about it because he thought that "in Turkey this would be seen as not so good."
I mainly wanted to know about salary negotiation, though, and how that usually works. -

Wed, September 21, 2005 - 10:07 AMIs there any reason you can't post publicly? That's the beauty of a public forum, others who share the same questions may get the info as well. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Turkey
Thu, September 22, 2005 - 12:44 PMEnd of story: I was able to 'negotiate' the classes I'd be teaching. The salary and the rest was set. They actually turned down another guy because he asked for more money at the last minute. -

Re: Turkey
Thu, September 22, 2005 - 12:47 PMOh, and the interview... creepy. They asked questions that would be illegal in the US. Marital status, sexual preference, and the like. I answered honestly, and they were like, 'Why did you TELL us that?!' And I was like, 'Well, why did you ASK?!'
They hired me anyway.
